Easing the Transition: Succession Planning for Farmers

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

With the average age of the American farmer at 65, many family farms are looking for strategies to successfully transition their farms to the next generation. This transition is multi-faceted, involving complex conversations around estate planning, management transition, and finances (amongst other topics). In this workshop, we will walk participants through available resources and what steps to take to ease this transition on all fronts. Panelists will include Mary Campbell and Jenna Muller who are mediators with the California Agricultural Mediation Program (CALAMP), and farmers from the multi-generation farm Good Humus Produce. During the panel, we will talk about typical challenges, how to get started, finding the right professionals, navigating impasse, and Good Humus’s experience with their transition.
