This workshop will focus on bringing together small farmers and other ag supporting entities to explore a state funding source, the Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation (SALC) Program, introducing participants to a variety of funding opportunities, including planning grants, acquisitions and capacity grants. The workshop goals are:
1. (Presentation) Provide basic information and resources on SALC and other California Climate Investment (CCI) funding opportunities; give a few examples on SALC program successes; give space for Fawn Scheer, Helianth Partners, to speak about their new role as a technical assistance provider for the acquisition grants;
2. (Breakout Session) Identify broader barriers and opportunities to increasing agricultural land conservation, with some emphasis on the Northern California, Central Valley, and Southern California regions; allow participants to talk about networking opportunities and connecting needs with grant funding opportunities;
3. (Larger Discussion) Allow participants to continue networking to prepare for any future proposals; and help participants become active with the SALC program by reviewing guidelines, reaching out about their interest, and framing conversations to build land protection and conservation momentum.
We hope to see you there!
