April Lancaster is a passionate medical herbalist, small business owner, and certified producer who has been operating her organic herbal apothecary, Lancaster Creations, since 2013. A dedicated urban agriculturalist, she cultivates rare and exotic aromatic plants through her certified operation, Counter Culture Cultivation, combining her expertise in cultivation with her commitment to sustainable practices.
Her connection to farmers markets spans more than a decade as a member of the Visalia Farmers Market Organization, where she served as the elected Executive Secretary. In 2021, April founded the Downtown Visalia Farmers Market, providing a platform for local farmers and artisans to thrive. Since 2022, she has been a steering committee member of the California Alliance of Farmers Markets, championing initiatives to advance the industry and support small farmers statewide.
At the California Small Farms Conference, April brings her multifaceted experience to the classroom as a Certified Market Manager Trainer. Her teaching integrates practical knowledge with a deep understanding of market operations and urban agriculture, equipping participants with the skills to build thriving, community-centered markets. In addition to leading the Market Manager Certification Training, April will facilitate the Market Manager Roundtable, encouraging collaboration and shared learning among market managers.
